Along with Merchants, the Aadhar app is also for the consumers. With Aadhar Pay app the consumers will not even need a mobile phone for making any transaction from Aadhar verified Bank accounts. The Aadhar card number and associated biometric scan is enough to make payment to any merchant across the country.

The main objective of the Aadhar payment app is to promote Cashless India Campaign that means to encourage payments through digital modes of transaction. It would also eliminate the hassles in the path of getting PoS (Point of Sale) machines along with fee and charges associated with them.

Aadhar Pay would also stop the theft/ hack of PIN number/ password of Credit/Debited Card or account. Till the date only 15 Lakh PoS (Point of Sale) machines have been distributed in a total of 5 crore merchants across the country.
