Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) Chennai and Kanyakumari

After launching Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) in Nellore, now central government has decided to launch the project in Chennai and Kanyakumari. Under the government has chosen these two cities in Tamil Nadu to distribute free assistive devices for old persons.

Earlier the scheme was announced and launched in March 2017, so senior citizens suffering from problems like low vision, hearing impairment, loss of teeth and locomotor disability can live a normal life. For this, the government will provide assistive devices to BPL Card holder aged person so the dream of Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) become a success.

List of Assistive devices under RVY

• Walking Sticks


• Elbow Crutches


• Walkers/Crutches


• Tripods/Quadpods


• Hearing Aids


• Wheelchair


• Artificial Dentures


• Spectacles

The main objective of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the scheme is to help peoples belong to the economical weaker section to make their life a bit easier in their declining age. The beneficiary of the scheme will be chosen on the basis of Census 2011 that shows 10.38 crore senior citizen in the country. Out of the total 5.2 percent, old aged men/ women suffers from the old age-related disability.

Under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana Chennai and Kanyakumari camps will get set up to distribute free assistive devices throughout the year.
