For getting benefits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi auspicious scheme, the free BPL Gas connection online form is not filled. Instead, applicants have to download PM Ujjwala KYC Offline Application Form from the official web portal of the scheme at http://www.pmujjwalayojana.com. PMUY was started on 1^st May 2016 at Balia, Uttar Pradesh and focused on providing around 5 crore free LPG Connection in the name of women belong to BPL families.

The central government is aiming to provide safe means of cooking food for women to reduce the rate of death due to the intake of toxic gas. As we all know burning of woods and cow dungs leads to the production of gasses that create indoor air pollution which may cause various respiratory diseases. With Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the free gas connection will be given to women of BPL Card holder families registered in Sensex 2011.

For applying, candidates have to fill both Page 1 and Page 2 and submit it to the nearest LPG Outlet along with required documents. Basic details to be entered in the application are Name, Contact details, Jan Dhan / Bank account number, Aadhar card number etc. Also, applicant needs to mention the type of cylinder required 14.2kg or 5kg.

Current status of LPG distribution in India

According to petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, there are currently 16.64 million active LPG consumers in India, most of which are in urban and semi-urban areas. Access to clean fuel (LPG) is limited to poor families. The government has issued 60 lakh new connections to the poor in the last one year.

India imports nearly 40 percent of its total requirement of 21 million tons, that is, Imports with new connections are also expected to go up to 50-55%.
