Apply Indian Railway Vikalp Ticket Scheme at irctc.co.in

To make traveling in trains more convenient and reduce the number of ticket cancellation Vikalp Scheme introduced by Indian Railway. Under the scheme, applicants are allowed to opt berth in next train without any further cost. Moreover, if you have booked a ticket in Rajdhani or Shatabdi it is not compulsory that you only get optional birth in these. You get the seat under Vikalp Scheme in mail/express or any other.

Indian Railway Vilkalp Scheme will get implemented from the next financial year that is  1^st April 2017. In the initial phase the scheme will be only applicable for online ticket booking and later it may get extended to window ticket booking.

How to Apply for Vikalp Scheme from Indian Railway Official Website?

1. Open IRCTC Official Website at https://www.irctc.co.in/


2. Enter your login and password and text given in the image below.


3. Then select your Train in which you are traveling


4. Enter details of passenger


5. Then you will be asked to choose “Vikalp Opt Birth”. Select it for applying the scheme


6. In case you think no need of the Indian Railway Opt Birth Scheme than leaving as it is.


7. After that simply pay for your ticket as normally by selecting debit/ credit card.

The government has also another objective behind the launch this plan, as the railway is looking forward to reducing the number of refunds. Moreover, Vikalp Scheme from Indian Railway is looking a good step for crores of travelers that use trains as best medium of traveling here and there.
