National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) has now all set to launch on 15-04-2017 across the country. The mega launch of EMV Open Loop card will allow traveling with different public transport facilities with a use of a single card. Earlier the launch of NCMC card has been set at the end of 2016 but due to some failure, it gets further extended.
This Smart Common Mobility Payment Card fill the deficiencies associated with other payments card use in some foreign countries. This card will be used for traveling by any means of transport based on stored value of money. National Common Mobility Card also enables account based retail applications. Moreover, this card does everything that does away the need of keeping separate cards.
Benefits of National Common Mobility Card (NCMC)
- One card use for traveling between bus, train, metro, parking etc. in the urban area
- Single E-Purse for all retails applications.
At present only Singapore have a nationwide common card where its use is limited to the city only. So India will be becoming the first in the world to use EMV Open Loop Card that will get used across the country.
National Payments Corporation of India has prepared the standards and specifications including Simulating Cards, Terminals and network, a support base of vendors for providing certified tools, cards, terminals and other services for the smart card.
Ministry of Urban Development has taken care initiatives of National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) that allow the user to pay one fare and able him/ her to travel in any transport mean to reach the destination.
